Question about unspendable pennies!

Hi, got a guestion about unspendable zinc Pennie’s. I’ve got two quart jars of some really bad crusted Pennie’s. I did run them through my tumbler to try and clean them up as good as possible. Took out the pretty good ones and left with 2 jars filled with bad ones. It would be a shame to just throw them out after spending hours to dig them up. I was thinking of just throwing them all back into the ocean and let the salt water finish them up.
Is there anyway to redeem them for face value ? If anyone has any suggestions, would appreciate some feedback.
Thanks

The US Mint use to take them until the Chinese sent in counterfeit 1/2 dollars !!! Then the program was suspended for several years. Now its up and running but a whole lot of new rules.
I havent had the time to follow up. I have 6 large sand buckets full !!!! Back in the good old days, they use to pay $1.50/pound. I had sent in a couple of times, filling a flat rate box. One time the postal clerk said I could use duck tape !!!! I needed a hand truck to take it in !!! :D :D :D :D

Check out 'mutilate coins' on Us Mint site. you may not have enough to cover postage.

Save them. As of this writing, Zinc is .14 cents more per pound than aluminum. Hoard them then sell for melt value down the road.
