Hey I have a friend that has a well used excal and an almost new tiger shark. I have a 1280x and it is almost unusable in saltwater. My friend will sell me either one of the detectors for under 500 bucks and I know the excal call is a better machine for salt water but the excal has a short in the head phones and will need to be sent back for repairs. I am reading alot of nightmare stories about Minelabs repair time and the cost of repairs. Would it still be worth buying the excal . It is still usable but the sound goes in and out on the right side.
I have talked with many people that tell me it's the excal or nothing but like I said the TS is almost new ..

Alright ,I am buying the excal this weekend . After spending lots and lots of time asking people and researching, I am sure that buying the excal 1000 for 475. is the right thing to do even with a short in the headphones. I think this machine will work out real well. Some people told me that the tiger shark would handle the salt some what but I was worried about the depth and really just knowing that I would kick myself for not buying the excal if the TS was a slug in the salt surf.
