Question for Folks that Have Used Quattro and Safari

I tried to locate an answer to this question, but I am not sure it's been fully explained - well to the degree I am trying to understand...

I have seen comments that note the Quattro's 'long recovery time', especially in comparison to the Safari. I certainly understand newer technologies etc make the Safari have a quicker response./recovery time.

My question is: If 'hunting' the same area with both a Quattro and a Safari, and a target is identified, how much longer would it take for the Quattro to 'recover' than for the Safari to 'recover'? A few seconds? 20 seconds? Never, and need to turn off the machine?

A little background: I had a Safari, but sold it. Just never got to use it and it was eating me up as it was just sitting. So, am now back to the Quattro or Safari again. I see some 'good deals' on Quattros, and might be willing to buy one. I just hunt for coins and interesting junk. I suppose I am of the opinion that I can be patient and rather be patient with a Quattro (if in fact it is 'slow') than be 'fast' with another brand machine since I respect the Minelab's ability to accurately identify something and save me more time in the long run. Basically, I do not need to go fast over an area - just not up to that level of expereince yet.

Again, if this has already been answered, please direct me to where I might be able to read that information. If not asked previously, then I hope this bears some interesting discussions.

Thanks!

John

John, I have a Quattro and a Safari and there is not a lot of difference in the recovery
time between the Quattro and Safari IMHO.I have been using the Quattro with a ML
8" coil and have been finding lots of coins around the basketball courts in my area.
The ground is like concrete here in central Indiana and the Q sniffed out a 1935 h the smaller coilh
buffalo nickel and some deep wheat pennies also.I rum my Quattro in the high trash
mode and all metal and it does great for me.I hadn't used the Q for awhile and got it
out the other day with the small coil and it really suprised me. Gary

Go to MLOTV and Des Dunn explains the differences between the Quattro and the Safari I think they are 15 improvements over the Quattro so I would say they are the same. HH:detecting:

Good idea. I will check out MLOTV, but Des is a Minelab employee (God love Des, as he's a great guy). I am wondering what folks here on this forum have expereinced - specific results. So far I've heard from a few that say it's a few seconds delay comparatively speaking and things like 'just take a nice slow sweep and it works great'.

So what I am not hearing is something like "it's the equivalent of Windows Vista and just stinks" and what I sense is that if you want to cover a lot of ground quicker, go Safari.

If you are OK with taking your time, Quattro will serve one well.

Any other thoughts out there?

(and thanks to all who have posted or sent me PMs.)

i just responded to a similar post. i think the quattro is one of best deals out there. good target info and deep. i see them going in excellent shape for around $400....hh.....jb

After using nearly every brand besides Minelab early on, I had a big problem learning the Safari. I think the greatest lesson I learned was to SLOW DOWN! The Safari might be a little quicker than the Quattro, but it is still slow compared to my GTI 2500 Garrett. I don't think trying to find out just how many seconds, etc the Safari is quicker than the Quattro will yield any usable information.
