Question for you seasoned 3030 users?

The user manual says that you can use NiCd or NIM batteries. If you put them in the back up battery holder. Can the charger charge them up. Has anyone over tried it?

No...it won't work...for several reasons.

Mainly because Minelab says not to, but specifically because the backup holder only uses 2 of the 5 connector pins.
You can try it, but nothing will happen.

Correct correct and correct. Recharge the rechargeable batteries in their OWN CHARGER MEANT SPECIFICALLY FOR THEM and then put them in the ML holder.

The CTX battery charger doesn't even work with the CTX battery, at least the 2 I've had so far...sounds like a fire hazard to try some other types of battery in the cradle. [But glad to hear it won't work anyways.]
