Question from a newbie

UPS tracking says my E-Trac should arrive tomorrow. I have a couple of questions.
1. In the factory preset for coins will it pick up gold jewlery?
2. Is the factory beach mode for salt water beaches only or will it work on fresh water beaches. If not what setting should I use.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

1. In the factory preset for coins will it pick up gold jewlery?

It will pick up bigger sized jewelry like bigger rings and pendents, but I would miss the smaller rings, pendents and chains.

Sorry I can't help you on the beach question. We have no beaches in Kansas.

Gold jewelry can be all over the map, as far as ferrous and conductive values are concerned. My best advice is to gather the types of targets you intend to hunt for, and pass them under the coil to make sure they are detected. If they aren't by using the preset mode, tweak it.

The major difference between salt water beaches and fresh water beaches is the mineralization. Since the E-TRAC takes care of the ground balance for us, it won't matter. Don't get hung up on modes and titles. Modes are adjustible and the Title represents a group of settings that engineers put in there because they worked well in the lab. Don't get me wrong. The E-TRACs factory presets are a great place to start. Just don't be afraid to experiment with them or fine tune it to meet your requirements.

The E-TRAC is totally flexible and can be set up for just about any environment. Learn what each function is and how to adjust it for your circumstances. Learn what settings are useful in tuning your E-TRAC for each site you hunt. If you don't have a coin garden, make one. Try out the various modes and settings to find what works best for you. High tones, low tones, number of tones. Fast on, fast off. Deep on, deep off, High trash, low trash. Difficult ground, neutral ground. These are some of the choices that only you can make, based on how they work for you. We all have different levels of hearing and we all have different styles of hunting. Factory presets are a good starting place. And forums can provide a good place to share ideas. But the only way for you to gain the understanding that you need to fully maximize the potential of your E-TRAC is to put the coil to the soil and learn from your hunts. JMHO HH Randy

Not sure, but I do know for sure that, If it's sweat and it repeats, I dig it!
