question on e-trac battery with x-1 probe

Hi all, I have a question about the e-trac battery with the x-1 probe attached. I was told by my dealer that the e-trac battery takes 12 hours to fully charge and should last around 20 hours worst case scenario with the x-1 probe. Does this sound right? I do not seem to be getting that amount of time out of mine. I am charging mine as we speak for at least 12 hours and I am going to keep track of the time I get out of it. It is still under warranty til August. Thanks all and HH.

Approximately how much time do you get out of it?

I hunt mostly after work, sometimes until it is dark and us the backlight so I can see the screen. Despite the increased load on the battery, I am getting more than 12 hrs from my battery.

FYI - The X-1 probe doesn't make your detector use any more battery power than it normally does. The X-1 probe is simply a switchable coil, you flip the switch and the X-1 is active, you flip it back and your main coil is active. Your detector is still ON and doing it's thing whether you use the X-1 coil or your main coil.

Rich, I hunted about 4-5 hours saturday, then a little over a hour sunday, then monday I played with some settings in the house so I had it on with the backlight for about 20 minutes or so. When I took it out today I just got done with noise cancel and about five swings later it read flat battery and died. I not sure how long I charged it for before that but, I thought it was quite a while. Thanks and HH.

I've got an X-1 and I've never gotten to where the battery died. When I first started I remember getting 14 or so hours on mine and still didn't go down. The way I hunt now, I generally swing no longer than 4-5 hours at most, then usually I charge it, because its 3-5 days before I'm able to go again.

Using the backlight will kill the battery power faster than anything.

I was told by my dealer to completely discharge the battery and charge it for eighteen hours. I use the x-1 and have run the battery down but it took several days. Perhaps you have a bad battery, how long can your machine run on the AA pack?

AH, I seriously doubt that the new batterys need to be fully discharged before chargeing anymore, scortch. Maybe on the first go round of use but after that the new battary for the E trac does not have the memory effect like the older Minelab nicad. You can charge just like NEB Track says, right in the middle of its life. Andy Covers this in his book and any dealer I use should probably have read Andys book if they are going to sell the machine to me. Discharging? maybe you mean use it but youi in no way need to put it on a discharge device ... just use it.

I also baught some rechargable lith ion batteries by enolop for the other pack and betwwen the two packs have not run into any time when I have not had a battary ready. I highly recommend you search under the fourm for information on the rechargable 2500mah batterys you can use they are great for all kinds of devices and emergencies and I have saved lot of cash by useing them over and over in all kinds of stuff.

jus sayin,

Yes I use headphones. I have had no problem with the AA battery pack but,I only use it to finish up the hunt. Thanks all and HH.
