Question on the size of head on MKruzer....

Hey guys. I was wondering for those of you that have had the Racer and now have a MK , is the heads on both machines the same ? Height, length and width. I am asking because I have custom rain covers and was wondering if it's going to fit the MK. It is tight on the Racer and by looking at the MK , it ( MK ) looks to big. Thanks for any info. GS

The original Racer (the red housed unit) came with a 7X11 DD that had a rod-mount more positioned toward the back. They are rounded at the front or nose of the coil, but have a small 'dimple' at the rear or 'heel' of the coil.

The Racer 2's 7X11 was configured that those for the Nokta CoRe and Relic with a rod-mount closer to the center which I prefer.

The Nokta Impact has a 7X11 that is closer to the design of the 'original' Racer coil, except it was redesigned to have a 'dimple' or cut on the front of the coil similar to that on the rear of the coil. The rod-mount is back towards the rear like the 'original' Racer 7X11 DD coil.

The Kruzer and Multi-Kruzer use a search coil that pretty much duplicates that of the Impact 7X11 DD and therefore it is not the same as the Racer coil configuration.

If you're talking about the controlscreen head unit, you don't need a raincover (other than for scratch protection) cause its water proof.

Sorry Monte, I should of said the control head. My bad. GS

Yes I was talking about the control head. And yes to avoid scratches and scuff marks. Thanks GS

For me personally, the reason to have a waterproof machine is to NOT have covers! I have really been enjoying taking the multi kruzer down to the beach and then giving it a shower afterwards, and it goes into the car nice and clean. I think a stick on screen protector like is used on mobile phones would be a good idea though.

Yeah, but, for those of us who hunt in wet grass , damp or wet dirt who like to keep their detectors sparkling clean, who are too lazy to rinse off a gunked up detector, a control box cover is a good thing.
Its a personal thing...........................

I guess I will have to buy one to measure it myself. You all don't need/want a cover, that cool with me. I like covers. I like to keep my gear nice after spending big bucks. GS

Clean detectors increase resale value as well. Not that anyone would want to sell their Kruzers of course... ;)

I think you'll be disappointed with a cover on the Kruzer control panel because it will be very difficult to operate the buttons. I found in the past that on my Racers and Impact I ended up not using the environmental covers because it simply wasn't working as far as pushing buttons.

Put a screen protector on the screen call of the day would be my suggestion.

I don't get my right detector hand dirty nor scrub mud and such across the display of any TID model. I pamper all my detectors, but if someone really is concerned about the display, a good screen protector might be the logical way to go. Accessing the touchpads cab be bothersome at times with environmental covers. The Multi-Kruzer is a very durably-built detector.
