Questions on coiltek coils for etrac

My questions are.....

I have recently purchased a 15in coil for my etrac. The screw/bolt appears to be metal. Does the etrac just ignore it when you ground balance? Second quesiton is.....the screw/bolt is a lot smaller in diameter than the factory one....supposed to be that way?

Thanks

I personally have never trusted metal bolts on coils, but I have no idea if it truely effects the detector...Maybe as long as it is stationary, it has no effect. But then again, I would think it would raise hell with Pin Pointing???

HH,

I dont think that coiltek used metal bolt, possibly some previous user put it on. change to professional toilet seat bolt :)

Coiltek coils do not come from the factory with metal screws, and you don't want a metal screw down there. You will need a plastic bolt and the toilet seat bolts mentioned above work well. You will also probably need to get some thin fiber or rubber washers to go between the end of the shaft and the inside of the mounting ears on the coil since the distance between the ears is a little wider on the Coiltek coils than the factory ones. If there is a small gap between the end of the shaft and the coil ears DO NOT attempt to tighten the bolt to keep the coil from flopping around, the ears will break. I have a good hardware store nearby where I got the washers for my WOT coil. If you hunt open spaces you will love that coil!!
