Rain and Sleet, Fun hunt

Went out today for a very wet hunt and was very pleased with the 200 sq. foot hunt. This old home was built int he mid 1800's as is doomed come June/July. I still have more than 2/3rds the property to hunt and cant wait. This home was also featured on the Antique Pickers show in the Michigan area.Allot of fun, but wet!! What is up with the Copper rings, never found so many. I pitched three others and kept the two that weren't damaged. Is there any one out there that has a clue as to what they were used for? They almost look like a grommet for a tarp. These were at an average of 6"-7" deep.

Not for sure but they look like copper compression rings from spark plugs.

Thank you for the suggestion Goldsniper and that did cross my mind as well, but the center hole is the size of a quarter. I'm not up on the history of automotive parts so I guess it could still be a possibility.

I found one of those copper rings this weekend. At first I thought...! Then, no so much. I think the spark plug compression ring makes sense. Seems to be about the right size.
