Dave, back from the camp with this. Brass. Lg 15/16 x Wd 5/16. Hollow and grooved in side.

Very well could be. Most muskets had a slight flare with a slight concave indent to better fit the ball---- but not all. What is the diameter?
 
That's right wildwilly, Brass (15/16 X 5/16 ). Hollow and grooved in side. Found this in my search. Six British Ramrods. 3# and 4# appear to have this type of end or tip.
