Sometimes, we bring all our metal home and we are so busy digging it up, we don't really realize what we've rescued from history. Such is the case today, when it seemed to be an uneventful day out in the sunshine. That is, until I got home and went through my finds. I went back to my honey hole today, and moved around a lot. When I stumbled on this little beauty. It seems to be a 1850's-1890's Chinese opium tin. Has some partial labels and appears to be quite rare. Because they were such cheap packaging, most were disposed of and discarded. So hard to find them it any condition. People are selling squished lids! It's crazy. So here's a first for you guys, a 19th Century opium tin. I believe it held a half pound of opium for smoking. Go figure. I love this hobby, like crackerjack, you never know what your gonna dig up. Go get you some!
