Ready to purchase a Ifinder H20.

After alot of reading all over the net and here, I'm pretty much convinced the Ifinder H20 is a great first unit for me. For me it would be more for Geocaching and or travling off road. I like to quad, metal detecting and lately got the urge to try Geocaching to keep me more active outdoors.

In the ads I see what looks more like the topo type map than a road map. Is this the case or do I have wishful thinking taking over. I have a laptop with Delorane Earthmate set up so not really interest in the road other than for reference points.

I sure here alot of postive reports on the Ifinder H20 and only a few quirks that seem pretty easy to live with.

Is there anything else out there in the that price range. $128.00 + $10.00 shipping that compares. I'm and older guy so larger works better for tired eyes. Weight is not a factor, being able to see it is....LOL...

Thanks in advance for any input...

In the ads, more than likely, they show the unit loaded with MapCreate USA Topo. These maps are actually dual purpose - road and topo. You can buy them separate from the unit but than you still need to purchase Lowrance card reader. Even that iFinder works just fine with any SD cards, new MapCreate will load maps only via Lowrance card reader. It's a part of copy protection. So, you may be better off getting the "Plus" package http://www.lowrance.com/Outdoor/Products/Plus/plus.asp
which includes the receiver, maps, reader and a small card. Don't buy extra cards from Lowrance - they are expensive. Just buy a larger card in any camera or electronics store.
