anyone that uses the z link system an the z link pinpointer. if you use rechargeable batteries. do you have to use a very high capacity to get any hunting time on them?

Regular rechargeable Energizer 9V last a long time in mine. I still carry a backup Energizer lithium 9V because you get little warning of low voltage.

My opinion is Rechargeable dont hold the voltage, that is they say they are 9 volts, but probably 8,5 or so. Now on my UniProbe with the built in headphones I notice when it get a little low it will be erratic and hard to use.. I have to change out to my extra alkaline 9 volt battery. After that it runs good. Also on my Tesoro I found rechargeable didnt work that great. I feel like for my Sovererigns it has to have the full 12 volts in order to work correctly , but many have tried 8 AA rechargeable in the alkaline pack which is only 9.6 volts, so some can use them fr a short hunt before the low battery alert come on. The factory rechargeable pack has 10 cells in it to get the 12 volts needed.
I never tried the 9 volt in my Garrett pin pointers so I don't know how it would work, but I have found that most detectors and pinpointer work what it was design for.
I got a new Garrett Z link that the volume is not enough for my hearing and find the pin pointer I need the vibrating one which I am not sure it has as I just tried the headphone and see it wasnt loud enough, so I put it back in the box, so I will be selling it for $200 or what ever I can get as I cant use them myself.

@Rick(ND) Did you try increasing the volume using the control on the Z Lynk receiver module? All Garrett pin pointers have the vibration mode, with or without the audio beep.

My experience with rechargeable 9V lithium ion batteries is different from the above post. I use them in my Tesoro's and Fishers and Teknetics along with my Garrett Carot and Whites TRX pinpointers. They hold their charge just fine.
