I notice d today in my test garden that i really didnt give up mmuch depth setting recovery at 45 and i have 7" dime 7" penny clad a few inches apart. And could hear both coins with seperate ids clearly at a faster sweep. How much does recovery affect depth overall on v. I like the quicker id and quicker responce just dont want to over sacrafice depth....any thoughts

I put two coins out about a hands width apart when I first got my V3i and found then 45 was the optimum recovery speed to pick up both targets. Never altered it since !
A fast recovery is so important for jewelry around picnic tables and places that people eat and sit. I was doing an observation/seating area on a grassy hill. I worked the whole hill at least twice (using my standard settings of just above 60) and barely caught a small 10k childs ring next to a bottle cap. Dug the ring and cap and realized that I'd have to go back over all the "nesting" areas again. Haven't got back since.

The filters add or subtract little from the depth but the sensitivity is #1, more important than Gain IMHO. Gain and Sensitivity go hand in hand but I would rather lower the gain a bit and raise the sensitivity for more stability and depth.
Adjustable recovery speed is important to me and I use 45 in the trash, but too fast RS and I feel that some good targets are missed, especially the deeper ones. That is where I really like the long sweet "round sound" I get with a slower recovery speed. I used the Deus for two months experimenting with depth and recovery speeds and the Deus set to Reactance 0 which is the slowest setting, is still a little faster than the V set at 30. The deep target finds really suffered for me in the last two months. In fact, I would say that I didn't find anything deep with the Deus in my ground and I feel that the recovery speed really hurt me on deep targets.
So, don't be afraid to experiment and use the recovery speed that fits your needs at the time.

When I found some deeper targets I switched filters.....Just checking to see how each did in that area..... it made a better sound with the lower Pass Frequency.. I thought it added depth..My Bad ... Maybe it just clarified the signal better.. Like I said I am not an expert..Shoot I'm not even a good user ......... LOL

You may very well have gotten more depth but my experience is very little depth gain, but you were right about a cleaner audio. The filters will help you with your ground conditions but I think is has more to do with matching your swing speed to ground conditions and how you have the V set up. On detectors that does not have adjustable filters you have to adjust your swing speed for optimal depth and audio. On the V3i, you can adjust the detector to you swing speed by changing the filters.
