Relic hunt yields oldest find

Downdeep

New member
Went out today to an area that contains some civil war relics having found a ringtail sharps and a pistol bullet there last weekend. This weekend I came away with one find, my oldest one to date. The V3i pulled a large cent out at 8-10 inches with a solid ID. I looked it up and this style cent was made from 1808 until 1814. With the coin in the right light and just enough spit on it, I am fairly certain it says either 1812 or 1813. Here is a picture of the coin front and back. Also included is a picture of the pistol bullet from last Saturday. I got a nice signal on that one, 44 if I remember correctly, but showed 0 inches for depth. Glad I looked down through the coil instead of just disregarding it as trash. I like the ones that I don't even have to dig, but merely reach down and pick it up :detecting:

That is a nice looking LC. it should clean up pretty good with a hot hydrogen peroxide bath.
