Relics and pre-decimal coins

Hello all. Hubby and I went to a new spot we hadn't detected before, an old school site, and to our excitement, dug quite a few coins plus other relics. We're trying to work out what date the silver half crown would be. It's very worn, but so far, I can make out the words Georgius IV. I've looked in the Coins of England, Spink book, and the coins seems to fall under the dates either 1821, 1826 or 1820. Not too sure. Would appreciate your imput! So I'm posting a close-up of the coin. Also found some nice pre-decimals and an interesting little lead horse, which unfortunately the head broke off while I was cleaning it. Have to glue it back on somehow.

Interesting. When I checked out the photos of the crowns with hubby, I swear we had an older coin. But you might be right John. I'll have another look at the book under the florins and go from there. I may have to amend what I've written under that coin in the photo! Still, shame it's burnt and out of shape.

Hey, what's a flourin??? I'm kidding again, I'm just trying to stir things up and be a rascal. Are they still using flourins today or is it an extinct coin from yesteryear? Just wondering. I'm a dummie from the United States, and I'm not familiar at all with the foreign coins, although I think I need to bone up on it a bit, so I could talk a little more intellegently in the future. :(;)Marc.

Hello Marc, you've got me laughing again as uasual. The flourin is a florin for starters! Just stirring you know! The florin is a silver Australian pre-decimal coin. that is, coins that were minted before my time, well almost!
