Response Long - Anybody using this settng?

Tried response LONG over a deep test garden coin. I was impressed how I could just hover over the coin and get a sweet tone. I know that a LONG response is going to elongate falses and trash target tones as well, but I'm gonna give it a try. Anybody had any luck using this setting?

iv been running long for over a year. look back to last years post of mine and you can see some test me a few guys did. long tones was the winner at unmasking targets. the reason it works is that short tones or pitch hold chops the tone off at the end and if another target is in that little window then its chopped out also but by using long or smooth there is no chopping off of the signals so a co located target may actual have a chance to get your attention.
for any one that doesn't believe that just read it in the instruction booklet that came with your et.
good luck out there ill be back soon

I agree. I have been working ferrous 2 tone smooth lately. It works really well in heavy iron. Iron falses are short and choppy. When you go over a good target, it will elongate the good tone. Sometimes only to the same length as a normal tone, but it will get your attention.

or Response Smooth. Yes, Ive have had luck with it. Its been a good setting for the very reason as you say in that its a sweet tone or rather for me a more noticeable one. Ive always felt more confident with depth and using the Etrac to its best abilities by using either Long or Smooth. Also, my use of it is a carry over of where I have used it, and will still do, as the Audio 1 or Audio 2 option on all the Explorer XS, E2 and SE.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like use of response LONG has a lot of merit. Again, I am impressed with how much you can slow the coil sweep speed down and still get a solid tone on fairly deep targets. It will probably take some getting used to. I'll be giving it a try.

I first tried it when I downloaded Andy's Coin Program. I now use it with all the settings. It stays on long no matter what else I might toy with. jim
