RETURNED RING TO ITS OWNER

Apparently this kid lost the ring in Margate NJ and I found it last weekend before the storm. She had her name inside and her school outside. My daughter got on Face Book and looked her up and found her. Her team came in 2nd in the world cheerleading championship's. Her grandmother just picked it up and offered me money but I refused it as I have a kid her age. I tell you, it was a great feeling to make this kids day. When she (her grandmother) picked it up she was in tears. I love this hobby. P.S. it was the first ring that I COULD return in all these years of rings and bling I have found.

Did you find out when she had lost it and how long it had been in the Surf?

For me , Gold at almost 1200 a ounce, and going up everyday......your a good man RP........Joe

Heah Ratpack, that must have been a great feeling, you made us all look good, for this we thank you. It's fine people like you that keeps this old world from crumbling. Thanks again, Gene

Returning rings is a great feeling. In the last 17 years i have returned well over 200 rings. many I was asked to find and many i found on rogue hunts and tracked down the owners. It always seems to come back. Return one, find two. i like to provide a photo of the ring and owner when possible. See the sample of my signature photo.

Serge, you do know your rings. that is exactly what it is. and yes, the couple was very happy to get it back. I once returned a large platinum ring with 72 diamonds to a woman. It was valued at 24K. Kind of hard to let go of one like that, LOL. When I called her and told her I had found it she was a bit excited as you can imagine. What the heck, that is what makes this a great service.

Congrats on the ring return. I personally would have kept it. I guess I am a REAL pirate. I did not spend thousands on equipment to provide a free lost and found service to anyone. When I go out detecting I am wanting to find gold and silver as a return on my investment . The investment being my hard work and equipment. I do not understand why others try so hard to return items to someone who obviously did not think enough about it to take it off before swimming or playing. I feel by returning such items we are further encouraging their careless behavior. Maybe if we stopped returning rings they would start to appreciate what could be lost. Anyway just wanted to let that out. HH.

I see your point BUT if your kid lost something special to him or her and it was so special as it was to this kid, would you want your kid to have it back? My Excal has paid me back at least 3 times over, I'm just giving back. For me it's now the hunt I enjoy and yes, to be honest the occasional payoffs are great.
Thanks for your opinion, that's why we have sites like this.
