Yep. Price has a lot to do with things.
I read one of Andy's posts regarding JW asking the same question that I asked. it seems that the processor is only slightly faster, but things have been improved through the software. I should have used the Quattro as the benchmark. As this seems to be the main feature that has improved on the new model, it would be interesting to know by what percentage it has improved over the previous model. after all, that was the focus of what Minelab has set out to do. I think that Andy is really trying to say though, that it's how it handles the ground better, rather than it's speed that is where the Safari is a better detector. So here we are, trying to get our head around what the improvements are by using basic ball park yard sticks, and Andy seems to be saying that it's a bit more complicated (vague) than that.
I agree with you on the need to slow down. When using my old XS Explorer, I have on occasion been as slow as a 10 second pass in each direction, when the ground gets trashy. The detector tells you how fast you can swing. I'm only just starting to get a handle on the XS, but it seems that the poor old thing is on it's last legs. I just hope that it will last a while longer. When it dies, I'll give the Safari or the Se the nod. I checked out the E-Trac and as our gold coins are right in the middle of screw cap range, the new arrangement of putting all of these targets on 11 and 12, is a real deal breaker for me.
