Sanborn Maps for FREE

Since the ground is frozen here in Indiana, I decided to finally try to track down the Sanborn maps for my
area. I researched the internet, libraries, county offices, and surveyor's. Nobody had any for the 1800's. I
then gave my local Historical Society a call. Guess what? They have the Sanborn maps from 1874 for the entire
county. Every township! I'm meeting the Historian there tomorrow so that I can take pictures of the maps, download
them into my PC, and then overlay them on Google maps.

I thought this might be a great help to those who are having a hard time finding them.

Very good!
I always tell people in states that are hard to get maps to check their local Historical societies.

Yopu can find them by typing in your State,county and historical society on the internet.

such as Missouri,Newton Historical society
