Saturday morning hunt - 2/21/2009 - Spoon Ring?

GrafeR

New member
This morning went to a local park for a hunt. Found what appears spoon ring? What does everyone else think? Also found a hammered silver ring (7.7g) from Mexico, 1978 Fairfield Co dog tag, scout scarf sleeve, a hockey puck near a frozen pond, and $1.75 in change.

Thanks for looking ... Ron

You are correct, it is ring made from a spoon or other eating utencil. Not sure if it is still practiced, but back in the day when someone died (usually a lady) family members would take some of the eating utencils to a jeweler and have them made into jewelry as keepsakes for the family members. When my grandmother passed away many years ago my mother was given a bracelet made from the handles of two utencils attached in a twist pattern. Nice find.

Great hunt. Nice chunky ring. I have found every type of ball known to man while detecting but never a hockey puck.
