Saturday's Finds. No hunt Sunday due to Snow Storm.

I just hope that this is the last of the Snow. I'm really getting tired of it. Anyone Else??? It was nice out Saturday so me and the boys headed out in search for more Old Coins. We did pretty well and Tim was having one heck of a Lucky Streak towards the end of the hunt. Right before we left, he pulled 3 Merc's, and I believe 3 Wheats also. Tim found a Half, 2 Quarters, and 10 Dimes. He had Merc's and Roosevelt's, but no Barber. He walks over to me and says, "All I need is a Barber Dime, Time to get a Barber Dime"! He walks about 25' from me and digs a Signal. Next thing I know I hear him yelling and laughing, "I told ya I was going to get me a Barber Dime"! Dale and I just started shaking our heads while Tim is saying, "I can't believe that I said I was going to get a Barber Dime and the first Signal that I dig, there she was, a Barber Dime"! Tim also found a Whopping 71 Wheat Pennies! This was all in about 10-11 Hours of Hunting. He also found 2 Indian Heads, a Tax Token, 2 Silver Rings, and a Sterling Pin. Way to go Tim! It was your time to shine! As far as Dale's finds went, I am unsure. I know he found some Silver but only Dimes. He said he had a bunch of Wheats also and one he said was a really nice 1910-s. You still did well Dale. Now onto what I found. I got 8 Silver on Saturday. They consisted of 1 Washington Quarter dated 1935-d, 2 Barber Dimes dated both 1901, 3 Mercury Dimes dated,1943,1944-d,1945,and 2 Roosevelt Dimes dated 1946-d and 1957. I also found 3 Indian Heads, 2 being 1903 (and both found in the same hole) and a 1904. I didn't dig any Nickels this time since there was a lot of Trash in the ground but next time I will be using the Joey Coil and then I will see what we left behind. For Wheats, I dug 52 of them. They are dated 11,12,13,(2)16,17,17-d,(2)18,19,19-s,(2)20,(2)25-s,27,28-d,29-d,30-d,34-d,(2)35-d,(2)36,37-d,40-d,40-s,41-d,(2)42,(3)44,(:geek:44-d,45-d,(3)46-d,47-d,48-s,(2)50-d,54-d,55-d, and 56-d. I'll post a couple Misc. that I found below this post. Hope you got out and found your share of the Loot. Enjoy! Good Luck and HH to you all.:detecting:[attachment 86347 DirtySilver.jpg][attachment 86383 CleanedSilver.jpg][attachment 86349 DirtyIndians.jpg][attachment 86384 CleanedIndians.jpg][attachment 86353 DirtyWheats.jpg][attachment 86391 CleanedWheats.jpg]

Found a couple items this time out. Got 2 Keys, one a Curtis Lock and Key Co. and the other an Old Briggs & Stratton. Found 2 Copper Rings and also a wierd Golf Pin. That does it for this outing and hope you enjoyed the pics. Good Luck and HH.[attachment 86392 DirtyMisc..jpg][attachment 86393 CleanedMisc..jpg]

Glad you liked the finds. Good Luck and HH to you on your next hunt.:detecting:

weeks now. Man you guys dug a lot of coins. I don't think I've ever even heard of anybody digging over 120 wheaties in a day's hunting:thumbup:

Got the Numbers from Dale. He found 53 Wheats also, which brings the total to 176 Wheat Pennies. Now that's a lot of Up and Downs! He managed 5 Silver also, with a Silver Pin and a few other things. Sure was fun digging all them Coins and just to think, there's still more waiting for a return trip. Next time out, you'll get your Indian. I can feel it! Thanks for the reply and Good Luck and HH to you.:detecting:

a park? that is a lot of coin for the crew. That had to be a fun day - Park was not hunted out until this last weekend. Congrats.

The Coins were found at a Park. In fact, there was also another Detectorist either using a Fisher or a Tesoro, but he was off in the distance so couldn't really make out anything except a Gold Lower Rod. Don't know if he found anything since he never came over to chat. This Park was small, so all these Coins just tells us that it wasn't Detected recently, at least with Explorer's. Glad you liked the finds and Good Luck and HH to you.:detecting:

a small Park. Usually these types of Rings are found at old Fairgrounds but these were from a Park. Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

You guys got some nice finds but that is a lot of holes for a small park. I have been chewed out more than once already because someone came into a town park and had plug holes all over in the park. Expecially in smaller towns. A couple years ago i had the sherriff called on me in Rogers because of this and i admit, that park looked like swiss cheese. That looks really bad for detectorists.

You couldn't even see that we were there, and besides, some of the Park Board were around so no harm, no foul. Good Luck and HH.

Glad you liked the post. There is indeed more finds still waiting there, but I am unsure if we plan on going back right away or venture out to a few other spots that could be Virgin Sites that haven't ever seen a Detector on them. If this is the case, then we should see a lot of Old Silver. Hope your making some finds of your own. Haven't seen you post for awhile. Thanks for the reply and Good Luck and HH to you when you get out and hunt. :detecting:

was happy finding $5 in clad and one wheatie today... This is why I bought an Explorer...posts like this...:hot:

It was dinner time when I seen you post so I had to answer it fast. Even though there were a lot of Plugs cut, most Plugs were very hard to see after being put back. Also, before we left, we could see a lot of Rain headed that way, which didn't end until Sunday Night. It could have even turned to Snow on Sunday and if it did, that will even help out in keeping moisture in the ground and helping the Grass grow along with the rest of the lawn. This Park was about half a City Block, if not a little bigger and there were Park Employee's present when we were hunting. They didn't see any problem with us being there since we weren't making a mess of the grounds. So what I am trying to say is that we did in NO WAY leave this Park or any other Park looking like Swiss Cheese. I wouldn't be able to detect with Dale and Tim, less myself if I or they were Plowing the Park, and that is a fact. I love this hobby just as everyone else does, if not a little more. I love reading up on the History of Towns which is kind of funny since I hated History in High School. Hope this clarifies the condition we left this Park in. I know there isn't one person out there, if they found a spot like this, that would have packed it in and said, "Oh, we are going to dig too many holes, we best leave these Old Coins be and maybe they will be there some other time". Now that just doesn't happen. Hope you have been getting out a bit. I will see you in 2 weeks. Good Luck and HH to you until then.

just have to make a serious attempt to find these spots. Do some Research in your area and you will be surprised on just how many great sites you will have within driving distance. Also, a lot of detecting time is needed in learning just what the Explorer is telling the user, so the more you get out, the better you will understand the language of these great machines. Glad you liked the finds and hope you hit a site like this all by yourself. Now that is when it really gets to be fun. It's all yours! Good Luck and HH.
