I'm back with the Haul from the Club Hunt I attended to on Saturday. This was another fun Hunt put on by my Club, Minnkota Artifact Recovery Group (MARG) and was Members Only. There were only 2 hunts this time but it just left time to sit and relax and B.S. with all the other members for awhile after everything was done. The 1st hunt consisted of $400 in Dollar Coins and $300 in Halves that was buried out in the field for us to go get. I am unsure for the exact number of hunters that attended but I believe I heard someone say around 22 which was less than I would have thought that should have participated since we have had some nice turn outs at our hunts in the past. That just meant more Coins for everyone else that did attend and everyone had a blast. Evan Kehl, the son of Jeff Kehl (founder of MARG and Vice President), did phenomenally well in this hunt. He ended up getting a total of 75 Coins! I just wish I could remember how much face value it was but it was enough to impress everyone at the hunt and even beat his father Jeff. WTG EVAN!!! Tim, the buddy I go detecting with on Saturday's, participated in this hunt but didn't in the Silver Hunt due to not sending in his $50 Entry Fee. The 1st Hunt was a Free Hunt and Tim did very well in it, and didn't even have to pay his Entry Fee to be in it. He ended up getting a Whopping $51 in Goodies in this hunt, beating me by $3. He had $40 in Dollar Coins and $11 in Halves bringing the total to 62 Coins. Didn't even have to pay that Entry Fee and he still came out $51 ahead! WTG TIM!!!! He told me it was Gas Money since he was heading down to South Dakota to see a buddy of his after the hunt and meeting. Hope your finding some stuff down there Tim! As for the Coins I got in this hunt, I found $37 in Dollar Coins and $11 in Halves with a combined Coin Total of 59 Coins.
We had our Lunch after the 1st Hunt and it was Mmmm, Mmmm, Good! Then there was a Raffle held for a 1/10th Ounce Krugerrand and also a Silver Half, Silver Quarter, and a Silver Dime. My buddy Rich Alfano bought some and did the bend the ticket trick to somehow increase his odds of winning. I didn't know anything of it at the time until the drawing. Jeff's wife, Valerie, pulled the 1st Ticket and she said that she didn't exactly know why it was bent but oh well and Rich started saying "that's my Ticket!". I didn't know what he was talking about but then she called out his last name and I couldn't believe it! I then realized what he did and still couldn't believe that he actually pulled it off and won the Krugerrand. He then goes up to draw a Ticket and hands it to Valerie and she calls my name. Rich starts laughing and tells me that he's got my back! I won a '64 Kennedy Half. The other Coins, the Quarter and Dime were won by others since I was paying more attention to Rich and his Golden Prize, still astonished that his trick worked! WTG with the Gold Coin Rich! Glad that you and your son Dan made it.
The Silver Hunt was next. I am unsure just as what everyone got but everyone except 1 person got their share of the loot. This 1 person was having some problems with his detector and it wouldn't get much for Depth so there was something wrong with it. He only found 5 Halves I believe and didn't get a single Coin from the Silver Hunt. This didn't matter much to him it seemed since he was helping others find Coins during the Silver Hunt and enjoyed chatting with everyone at the hunt. Better luck next time and hope to see you attend our hunts again! I found 2 40% Kennedy Halves, 5 Washington Quarters, 1 Canadian Quarter, 14 Mercury Dimes, 25 Roosevelt Dimes, and 5 War Nickels. There was also 2 New Pennies that I had found during the hunt which really sucked since it should have been Silver. I added the '64 Kennedy Half and 3 Roosevelt's to the Pic. The Half from the Raffle and the 3 Rosie's from 1st Place Finds at the Find of the Month. 1st for Relic, Nickel, and Half Dollar. That sums up the Club Hunt on Saturday. It sure was a lot of fun once again and now I will have to wait until Spring for another Hunt from the Club. Oh Well!!!
Hope you enjoyed this posting of the Club Hunt Finds and as always, thanks for everyone looking and thanks for everyone that showed up at the hunt. Good Luck and HH to you all!
