Saving programs

Hi there, I know this might be a daft question but here goes anyway it's regarding saving my own programs,lets say I've set up my Etrac in an all metal 2 tone ferrous program blacked out a small section of the screen,and put in a few of my preferences,Could you please tell me where and how is the place to store it for future use the other bit that is confusing me there is a user mode save and a discrimination save section Thanks.

Once you create the setting, go into the menu under prog. or disc. and there is a setting that says "save". Push the right arrow and then it will ask if you want to save it, right arrow again.

It is confusing. I read it, and see that under MENU, you can scroll down and find 4 USER modes, and then SELECT one, then SAVE it. That part I think is simple enough. But the book also says there are 6 DISC settings that can be saved to MY PATTERN slots, so what I'm thinking is that once you save, lets say, 4 different DISC PATTERNS under MY PATTern SLOTS, and also lets say you saved 2 USER modes, you could recall any of the saved DISC PATTERNS for use with not only your 2 saved user modes, but you could recall those DISC PATTERNS for use even with the factory preset modes, like COINS, BEACH, etc.

But this is just my understanding after reading it. I have not tried any of this yet. Someone with experience will probably straighten us out

If you have a copy of Andy Sabisch's book on the Explorer and E-trac, he covers this in more detail on pages 41, 45-47.

In a nutshell, when you 'SAVE' when in 'Discimination' settings, you are only saving the pattern that you are currently using or are editing.

If you save in Modes, you are saving not only the current Discrimination pattern, but 10 additional detector settings including;

Audio -
Volume Gain - i.e. 24
Response - i.e. Normal
No. of Tones - i.e. Multi
Tone ID Sounds - i.e. Conduct
Variability - i.e. 25
Tone ID Limits - i.e. 30

Experts -
Recovery - Deep - i.e. On or Off
Recovery - Fast - i.e. On or Off
Trash Density - i.e. High
Ground - i.e. Difficult

Of course there are others settings on the detector besides those 10. There are Universal Settings and also Preferences. (pg 47) Universal Settings and Preferences are not saved or attached when you make a SAVE when you are in MODES and remain the same regardless if you load a special hunting mode or one of Minelabs preset Beach, High Trash, Coin or Relics modes.

Andy gives some tips on making the most of the ability to save various programs in the E-trac as well as backing them up to a computer and using the E-trac Xchange to expand your library of available programs.

Hope this helps clarify between the two different types of Save.
