The manual says that the threshold should be set at a level where you can hear the slightest variation for deep targets. I've not been able to achieve this "slight threshold increase" when air testing and in the field. Yeah, the threshold blanks on iron but it never just barely rises on deep targets. It's either on or off , 1 or 0.

Any ideas?

I'm a new etrac user, so I might be wrong, but I think this applies when volume gain is set to a lower setting so all targets are not amplfied, then you will hear slight variations to the threshold.

Is "deep" set to on or off? If it's on, there are no slight sounds, they are all loud.

What I think they are talking about is if you are in clean ground with no trash (lol) and you hear a change in the threshold tone with no report it might be worth investigation. If you are running in Auto....hit the manual and jack the sen. up to see if you can get a report from the detector in a situation like that........In the places I hunt I hear the threshold every now and again so it would be nearly impossible to hear just a threshold pitch change. Andy's book has a little info on using Pitch Hold for just that.....Good Luck....Dennis

In "Pitch Hold" it will change the threshold pitch for targets on the edge of detection. I don't think it applies to Normal, Long or Smooth.

This is my personal opinion Arnie, but I just set the Threshold "barely audible" (raising that number up in wind or other background noise). Just so I can hear it. If you're running PITCH HOLD for response, I'd sure want to be able to hear that threshold. PITCH HOLD is for sure where you will hear the difference.

Now, that being said. At times when its quiet and I'm really paying attention, I will hear variations in the pitch running in normal response. I CHOOSE to ignore this. My reason is, if a 10

I've played with all the settings except pitch hold. I'll mess around with that.
