Screen Glare and Screen Scratching

Hi everyone, just thought I would let you all know that I purchased a anti screen glare cover & scratch protector for a i phone and with very little trimming fits my E-Trac screen perfect and is fantastic in the sun, and a great screen protector as well. Not bad for

I made a similar homemade solution with some screen plastic placed over the screen console.

I just removed it today when I cleaned up and wiped down my Etrac.

Here are my observations:

1. The screen is not scratched at all = Good
2. Dirt had begun to sneak in around the side edges of the plastic = Bad

I have a rain hood on order right now because I am afraid that if any sand or dirt works its way between the screen plastic and the screen it will remain there and grind itself into screen only to be discovered once I remove the plastic.

I've had this setup for about a month and yes it did what I wanted. But I can see that for me it is not a good long term solution.

The plastic I put over the screen was very scratched up so it worked as intended, but I see potential for future failure. Also, I am concerned with dirt, dust, sand, or moister getting into the slits in the back of the console. A piece of plastic over the screen does not address this issue at all.

For the reasons above, I am modifying my setup.

What I may do to get the best protection is to cut another plastic cover and affix it to the screen and then put the rain hood over the entire thing. At least that way if any dirt or sand gets inside the rain hood it won't be grinding between the hood and the bare screen as I push the buttons.

I'm willing to trade a little clarity for longevity if those are my only choices.

I had a very teeny tiny bug crawling around inside my screen:confused:.........NGE

What if you adhere a anti-glare screen to the rain hood reflective plastic. Would this eliminate the reflective glare?

I use a Zagg screen protector on mine. It really does a good job protection it from scratches. I still get screen glare but I can live with that.
