I know most of you s.e. owners run your sens anywhere from 24 and up and have good results. I would like to know how many of you guys run lower sens like 18-20 or even lower and still get good depth and good results thank you for your time.

i'm new with my se , but lately i've been using close to all metal (30) and i have my sensitivity at 14 now and i get very little blanking , and i've found 2 indian heads at about 8 to 9 inches and a couple of wheaties at about the same , i too am looking for advice , detectorbase is a good source of info and a good guy , i'm going to raise my sens. to 18 or so tommarrow and see what happens. Hope this helps and i'll take any advice .

I have been running my Sensitivity at 22 Semi-Auto and I have no problem getting 10"+ Coins. You shouldn't have to worry about the Sens. but I wouldn't run past 26-28. Good Luck and HH.

I can tell you I have an xs and just found my money order receipt for the puchase on 10/12/01 and I found running it at 18 to 22 with a minelab 7.5 coil I have dug some unbeleivable depths...after my 10.5 coil started to false all the time....I used the 7.5 all the time...I have no complaints...never have I ever had to turn it up over 22 to get deep coins or whatever...You just got to be where the coins are and it will do the rest...I have dug a silver ring at from my elbow to my finger tips with the 7.5 and that is all I need to know....when there is pine needles 6 inches thick and find old wheats or indians another 6 inches in the dirt below then that is 12 to me...yes they were squeeky but I knew they were good....the minelab toys are superior! my opinion is dont over whelm the coil with 28-30......it will kill the purpose...keep it to a low growl and it will sneek up on the prey! Just my opinion!!

I run all metal (IM 32), Ferrous sounds and sensitivity is at 16-18 manual. Dug two Barber dimes at 5" today. I know that's not super deep.. but for my area that's the edge of deep. Deep is 8-10", and I've recovered targets fine at that depth with that sensitivity setting. I'm also using 8" (SunRay X-8 stealth) coil.
