Second day with my Safari

I'm finally doing what I wanted to do 35 years ago. I had my second day with my new Safari. I tried a small beach that is not in use. 2 days ago I tried a couple of hours at my house in the yard. (my house is 230 years old). I found that very hard. Rocky soil with high minerals made the Safari jump all over the place. 1 wheat penny and a lot of false and junk. So yesterday I went to the beach. Much better. Had a nice hum. This beach is well hunted out I found. After hours all I got was a quarter right at the water line.(ID 3:geek: This was about 7 inches deep in wet sand. I am impressed at the garbage it finds. Small balls of foil (old cans) about 1/4 inch in size7+ inches deep!!

Today I'm heading back at low tide. I might put on some boots and go a foot in the water. :) This beach is so hunted out that that I think location location location might be the key.

So, after 2 days and reading the manual and the book that came with the detector I'm hooked. The headphones are annoying. They should have made the cord longer. and they should not have used that old type of jack. No headphone company uses that old junk any more.

2 days and I improved 2500%!!

Next update tonight ;)

I bought a set of wireless ear buds on closeout at Radio Shack. No cord to deal with, at all. I really, really like them. They plug into the USB port on your computer for recharging and they stay charged longer than I do.

Welcome Mike. Looking forward to seeing many great finds posted.I'm gonna follow Brookie's example and get wireless auvios at the shack. The audio 200 that came with mine constantly get caught up on branches and vines

It will take some time and practice with a new Safari, but you'll figure it out. Just make sure you do a ground balance from time to time, like when going from wet sand to dry. Throw some coins down in the sand and test your settings, depth etc. Read some posts... some good tips here. Congrats on the new Safari.

Don't be afraid to disc. some of that junk out, if it is becoming a problem. I have to disc. most of that stuff out because there's just too much of it in the kind of sites I hunt. Like mentioned you can use wireless headphones with the Safari or if using regular headphones make sure it comes with a coiled cable.
