second seated half dime

I got permission to hunt a field that had an old school house in it.I is very old I found a wheat than a 1903 ih not pictured after about a half hour another 34 ih I thought but when I looked in the dirt there she was silver. It is odd that it did not come up 38 or 39 even out of the ground solid 34 I have never had silver hit 34 other than a Morgan.Sorry I wish I could get better pictures it has a solid liberty and full details

Now youre getting me pumped up. I have an old circa 1900 schoolhouse I have permission to hunt where I am just waiting on it to get cold and drive the rattlesnakes into hibernation.
Very interesting on the silver; I also have never had it read anything except 38/39, and almost always its 39.

Hey Croaker, I was just thinking, did you double check that hole real well? Perhaps a penny in the same hole that was coming up on your screen. However I did have a seated dime come up around 28 once. Weird stuff happens. Nice going anyway.

Way to go Croaker!!! :please:

I was hunting with my regular metal detecting partner a few months ago. He uses a Teknetics SE2 (seems like a great machine). He found a seated half dime and mentioned something about the reading on his machine. I ran my Safari over it and it was a consistent 34. I was also a little surprised at that. A few weeks later I found a marked sterling silver table kinfe handle, you know the kind that is hollow and very thin. It also read 33-34. So there must be something about the size or how thin the object is that causes the machine to read below 38-39.

Yes I checked the hole again but like I said out of the hole it was the same. I have a nice barber quarter I found the next day same place. I just haven't got around to post it yet

Sorry I forgot the date it was 1872 I just posted pictures of all 3 I found I a week after this one.Found a bad looking large cent yesterday I will post it when I get a few other coins to show.

on my sovereign the chart on thye sunray meter lists the half dime and the indian head with the same vdi range. i believe its because the coin is smaller it reads lower.
