Seeing Double

Hi all, just a question for you seasoned E Trac users. I have only had my E for 2 weeks and have had 4 hunts with it and think it is a great machine but while detecting with the digital screen showing I have noticed that there are 2 crosshairs in the small screen when a target is found!! :confused: This does not happen in other larger screen mode.
I have contacted minelab who were very helpful and advised that a shadow crosshair may be experienced but it is not a shadow as I can see 2 crosshairs moving in seperate parts of the small screen. They said if I returned it they would re calibrate and if necessary replace the board.
Has anyone experienced this problem and if so can it be rectified without returning the machine. I have done a master reset but to no avail.
It doesnt appear to affect the machines performance but I dont want it to develop into a larger issue later on.
Your guidance would be appreciated :cheers:
 
You mean like this? Some etracs do this some do not weird I know. It does not hurt the performance of the machine just bugs the heck out of me. I want to send mine back but who knows it may come back worse. Daddy said if its not broken son don't mess with it.
 
Mine has done it since I got it. Seems to work OK otherwise and I only look at the numbers anyway.
 
You are "re-checking" your holes to make sure there are not TWO silvers in them?????:rofl::poke:

Yes .... and i did..... got it back in three weeks and works fine now. Seems to id better than it did before also. AL
 
Hi all, thanks for the replies. Yes Delta just like that, I am worried that the machine is using resources to try ID two targets and maybe not processing as fast as it should!!
ML have phoned and assured me that it will come back sorted and with fast turnaround, they even said their marketing dept would send me something for the inconvenience and to offset the post charges. I think I will take them up on the offer.
I have been checking for a lucky double Neb but no such luck :(
Anyway I will decide after a couple more hunts and keep you updated

Had a short hunt earlier today and still was getting double crosshairs so went home , packaged E up and sent it on its merry way to Minelab.
Hope they can sort it out, I will have my fingers crossed until it returns :cry:
 
Hi Delta, I am in Ireland and luckily so is Minelab ,although at opposite ends of the country. Registered recorded mail cost the equivalent of $24 with insurance cover of $2100 included, with door to door delivery within 2 days....not too bad.
 
Mine only does it when I have the quick mask screen on top with large #'s.....if I hit the detect button and have the large screen and small #'s everything is fine.......As Ray said I have seen nothing that would make me think the detector is not functioning properly.......
 
Mine has always done that on that screen. Never had a hint that it wasn't acting correctly. I would wgaer that this is something that is normal.
 
Mine does that too. I was thinking it was showing the last and current target ID... But , this isn't something I had tested...

How do I get my machine to display this screen. I have never seen it before. I thought I had been all through this detector
 
When you are in the "smart find" screen just hit the detect button, then the numbers will appear large and the smart find which shows cursor position will be small. This is called the "digital" screen.
 
I remember seeing that in the destruction manual now that you mention it. I like it. My screen only shows one crosshair at a time. Idigid
