Sef coil 10x12 vs. D2 coil

I'm sure a lot depends on the soil mineralization, and types of stuff you're hunting for. As for me the D2 does a great job, the other thing I'd make sure of is that the other coil you're looking at is rated for the V3.

Nothing worse than spending the money and forgetting to check all of the specs.

The 10x12 is not V rated. They seem to vary in performance. Some seem super and others not. This seems normal because this is exactly the same with Whites non v rated coils. Some will work great and others will not. If I could go to a dealers and go through a batch until I found a great performer then I would consider one.

One person I hunt with like it but doesn't think he is gaining extra depth. There are two Indiana guys one votes yes and one votes no. So there is no guarantee. Rob

I hunt with an older 10X12 and I'm quite pleased with. Would I buy a 10X12 to replace the D2, no way. I can not see any advantage other than I get 2 more inches in my search pattern.

I used the 10X12 SEF for about 8 months after my second bad D2 coil. In my experience it will go as deep as the D2 with much lower RX settings. It does better with EMI as well. That being said, I don't believe it has the separation at depth that the D2 coil has, and of course the VDI is skewed because of the 22.5 kHz frequency. After my third D2 coil went bad I used the 10X12 again for about 3 weeks. Boy, I was happy to get the D2 strapped back on. The D2 is much more stable and the VDI output is much more reliable in my opinion. The SEF would be my second choice for a coil on the V3 followed closely by the V rated 6X10 Eclipse.
