99 sens and 44 disc...blimey!
When l had my trusty T2 my settings were almost always sens 70 disc 5 tones +2 for Roman sites, trashy sites l would leave disc at 5, never more than 5, and could drop sens as low as 7 or 8 and still pull Roman coins, including tiny minims, at decent depth.
Don`t be afraid of using low sens, the T2 still has respectable depth on the lowest of settings and will winkle out small silver etc in trashy areas, the tone is so clear l never used to dig any rubbish at all, any 2-way signal l dug, l never used the numbers.
All metal is best for pasture, we`ve hammered an old Roman villa site that`s been pasture for donkeys years with every machine going for years, it got to the stage where it was a waste of time, finding nothing every trip...until l got my T2, in all metal l found 7 Roman coins and various bits in 2.5 hours, my mate with his XP GMP with 11" coil fitted found nothing.
As to the S.E.F coil on the T2, a waste of time for me.l tried one out on a medieval site and never found a thing for over an hour, switched back to the stock coil and bang, almost immediately started finding again. However, l found out later there was a batch of faulty S.E.F coils being sold by Joan Allens, maybe mine was one of those lol..
It went a.s.a.p....the S.E.F coils work better on some makes than others, but as someone stated, the stock coil is unbeatable if used correctly for the right conditions. If you try and get too much sens it has a negative effect, its trying to sort too many signals out under the coil in one go and even though the recovery speed is superb, it can only sort so many things at once.
Keep sens low and give the coil a chance to pick out the good bits.l`ve had Celtic silver units on a sens setting of just 8, depth is not always the key to finding the goodies.
