Sensory Overload!

Just bought a new E Trac this week and have about 8 hours on it. I used the Minelab "Coins" program and di great finding 2 Large cents, 2 IH and a dozen Wheaties. ' I have been doing a lot of reading and watching videos and am just to the point where I am overwhelmed. I did manage to download the Andy S coin program and managed to get it under "my pattern 1". Now I see there is a settings download for that program. So I assume the "pattern" and "settings" are independent of each other? Can I transfer all the settings to that pattern at once or do I need to individually change each one then "save" them? Do the settings change each time I change a pattern?
When responding please feel free to explain as if I am an idiot since I am when it comes to this stuff LOL!
Thanks

Patterns are just the discrimination patterns. I run Andy's pattern 99% of the time and TTF pattern for other spots where I'm going to dig all non-ferrous. That is all I run for patterns. A settings "download" will change your settings. I don't have my manual with me right now, but things like Pitch can be altered.

I remember I had difficulty with this and when I had my settings (audio) how I liked them, I'd downloaded a settings and it changed how a silver dime sounded from what I was used to. My advice would be to tweak the settings using different coins to how you like the audio to sound and just worry about downloading the patterns.

I felt the exact same way when I got my machine six years ago - read so much I drove myself crazy !

Here's what I would suggest ...

The E-Trac is a great "Turn On And Hunt" machine right out of the box !
Just load the factory Coin Program - set the Sens at Auto + 3 - and spend the first 100 hrs. or so just getting the feel of the machine.
Don't worry about all the other settings till you are more familar with the machine.
As most would agree - you will not miss that many good targets and you have a lot more fun focusing on the hunt rather than the settings !

Good luck and keep us posted !

Don't understand the issue you're having found two large cents, injuns and wheats?

I'd say keep on doing what your doing and forget the videos and forums for a while til you get some miles on that eTRAC.

Well as usual I make more out of something than it really is. I have about 20 hours on the machine and have dome ALOT of reading, video watching on forum asking and I am starting to see the light. Thanks to all who have taken the time to respond and not make me feel dumb.
