Having them remove that pesky 1-30 and 1-31 falsing spot and check the lack of depth issue. I sincerely hope I get back a new machine as I am dying to use this thing, with it's awesome separation, and get it's proper depth. If I can get depth out of it like you guys, you probably won't see me posting much because I will be out killing them.:super:

I am really hoping they just replace it. I do not like the idea of my machine being the first one that Vegas gets to fix:rofl:

Sounds like you've been a loyal customer and I'm sure he knows that as far as you're concerned it's never worked right.

Hello,

I am new to this Forum. I have waiting to order an ETRAC.

I am waiting for a better concensus and more positive feedback on this unit.

My question is: Do most dealers replace a defective detector? Is this something a person should ask prior to purchase, or is this just assumed.

Am I correct in reading MInelab takes over a month to repair a detector?

Thank you Everyone.

Craig in Minnesota

If they come back with nothing is wrong with it, me and Mine Lab are going to have a problem as this so called "exceeding Explorer ETrac" is not exceeding my Explorers or even keeping up in depth with every Etrac air tested on this forum.

Once again Erik, as I mailed it last night to Mine Lab, I have taken your advice a day late:rage::rofl: I spoke to my dealer yesterday who told me to mail it in to Minelab.

mine seems like its running fine, I am getting targets anyway.. no depth could be I haven't gone over any, and the nails falsing I think everyone will get when they get into enough iron... but if they do find something and your happy when it gets back I will be sending mine in too...

Jim, yours got much better air depth than mine, didn't it? If you get some good rain and don't see any improvement in depth, then I would definitely start to worry. I can't imagine though, now after a month of detecting, that you have yet to go over a target deeper than six inches.

Wow, I would have to think long and hard before buying from that guy again - sounds to me that he's trying to wash his hands of this issue - I remember you went out of your way to remain loyal to him - loyalty goes both ways as far as Im concerned! Anyway, bottom line is you'll get a working detector - it might just take a little longer this way......sorry to hear of all these problems.

Mine doesn't get any depth over 6" either, and I am almost positive there are coins there deeper than 6". I say this because I have pounded this park with my DFX and when bobcats moved about 4" of soil, the targets were plentiful. Seated, Barber and Indians in decent quantities. There are sections where the bobcats have not gone over, and I'm sure there is deep silver as well as Indians there. But nothing deeper than 6" so far. I know the extreme mineralisation has hurt depth some, and there is some iron (but not much), but I can't feel there is something missing to this E Trac equation. So far for me, in my area, it is not performing on the deep side. The trash side is EXCELLENT!!! I have plucked 2 Barber Quarters, a Standing Liberty Quarter, 3 Barber Dimes, etc... from one trash patch. It excels there. But all were in the 2-4" range. But separation is better than I imagined. I have my DFX set to really separate trash targets in close proximity (with the fast recovery rate) and this E trac has found those coins in that same area. But Depth??? It still eludes me. I am anxious to see what your machine does when it gets back. I will try the Master Reset to see if it helps. HH

After what I heard about your air tests, I'd be very upset if they told me there is nothing wrong with it. Even my machine got better results in air than yours did. There has to be something tweaked wrong on your unit!!

I did hunt 4 hours in a park, and even though it's been pounded a zillion times with my explorer I found many coins deeper than 6 inches.. so there has to be some deep ones left, but nothing but surface to 2 inch clad with the etrac.. the other places I have hunted were not known for deep targets though... this weekend if the weather holds I am gonna try a trashy place I can only get to by kayak... havent had the etrac there yet.. but a buddy of mine and I went out there he had an old musky and I the explorer and he pulled a few deep ones out the explorer was trying to null on, but would come in after playing with the targets a bit.. if the etrac is faster it should lock in better.. besides parks, I only had a few places that had lots of deep stuff, occasionally but not alot.. so hard to say if I am getting over anything deep or not.. next time at the parks I will try deep on and fast off

He never tried to wash his hands of it or anything like that, he just said that if I thought it wasn't working correctly that it would be a good idea to send it in to ML. The idea of him replacing it never entered the equation as I didn't see where it would, again, have anything to do with him. In your case with the XS, there was an obvious defect with your screen, new out of the box. With my ETrac that had already found a 100 coins, the depth issue, kind of has to be proven to ML ...I would think. I have no qualms with my dealer and I am sure IF Minelab was not helpful in it's repair or replacement, which I doubt will be the case, that he would go to bat for me.

If a machine is new from the beginning most good Dealers will just replace it for you just like any store will with new and defective merchandise. Especially if you are a regular customer. I would call and talk with your Dealer.
