Setting threshold

Should the Threshold be set as low or as high as possible on the CTX? I know it sounds like a stupid question. I am under the impression that you turn the Threshold up until you hear a slight (tolerable) background hum to obtain maximum depth......is this correct?

The threshold volume should be set to just audible, and the threshold tone can be any tone you like, I like 17. It doesn't affect depth, just listening for the subtle change in the hum of the threshold will alert you to any fringe signals (signals from targets that are beyond the stable detecting depth). For example, if ground conditions have you running at 15 in Auto, and this can ID a target well at 6 inches, a signal at 8 inches would be in the fringe zone, and would be hard to ID or just barely register a change in the threshold. Hope that helps.

Thank you, gentlemen.
