She was sitting under the iron... but cried to me through the nulls.:surprised:

When you've hunted 4 hours without any keepers in the pouch...you know you are at a POUNDED park.
Now common sense would tell most of us to move on...but I'm a little stubborn:cool:...and I don't like getting skunked.

I am serious..4 hours without a keeper.

The Yeti and I were getting punked:lmfao:...so I said "let's hunt each side of this old dirt road. Which side do you want?"

The Yeti took the east side...leaving the west side for me.

I pretty much just stood in one spot and crept the coil along. I only took a step forward after 15 seconds or so. I mean I was creeping.

After another 40 minutes or so I heard a sweet little whine break the silence of the nulls. I got excited and REchecked the signal. It absolutely disappeared from EVERY pass except ONE. An IFFY hit...but one to investigate.

9 out of 10 times I will walk on this iffy type of hit...but I was bored and it sounded very sweet from one angle...repeating on the return swing too.

In every other pass from every other angle though...."nullsville".:bouncy:

From that one tiny pass though....a sweet whining "warble" popped through the nulls. I'm diggin'!:smoke:

After removing a huge rusty nail from the hole at the 7" mark:confused:...I ran the probe again....and out came a bottle cap from 8":stars:. Frustrated...I ran the probe 1 more time...and boy did it sing. What a great feeling!:clapping:

I dug another 2" of soil out of the way...and out popped a thin little silver disk from 10" deep.:super:

I picked it up and with my bad eyes...thought I had a Barber so I was stoked.

I was even more stoked when the Yeti put on his now famous "super-duper, thick black rimmed, devo magnification system glasses:rofl:....and said "no dude...it's a seated"...an 1890.

Good thing it was a dreary day with no sun...cause if any of it passed through those freakin' glasses....it would have sent a laser beam...and melted the seated dime.:bouncy:

This was a very rewarding find for me. I just knew there was something more to the sweet warble through the null than a big nail and a bottle cap. A find I won't soon forget.

I began to hunt again but felt like someone was breathing down my neck. I looked over my left shoulder and what did I see? ....The Yeti had gone from 20 feet on the other side of the road where he was SUPPOSED to be hunting:cool:....to MY side of the road...RIGHT next to me....and rubbing elbows with me.:crylol: I guess he figured I needed some help hunting my spot where the seated came from.:smoke:

It wasn't 20 minutes later that the Yeti let out a bellow...which could mean any of three things. 1) He was hungry:)..2)...he needed to use the restroom:help:...3) he had located what he thought was a silver keeper.

Since he helped me hunt my spot...or more like since he rooted me out of my spot:cool:....I helped him dig his hole.

From the back side of the hole...I popped out his coin.

With a quick scan using the devo glasses...I confirmed another seated dime. This one an ancient 1857.

The Yeti was fired up ...as I was. It was the first time EVER that he and I have found seated coins in the same hunt.:yikes:

Fellers' I'll tell you what....the Yeti is a weapon with his XS. He's a freakin' funny looking weapon... with those devo looking, laser beam launching, goggles of his:smoke:...but he's a silver sniffin' weapon nonetheless. One of the BEST I've ever hunted with.

My seated lady crying through the nulls was so much more meaningful since the Yeti found one too.:)

It just goes to show you that you never know what will pop out....and when. What a wonderful hobby.

:clapping:Great story and awesome finds! That is really something to be proud of being able to find OLD silver like that in hunted out areas. Man you had me rolling, busting on your buddy like that! It sounds like you fellas have a great time hunting together.:starwars::buds:

Thanks for sharing and HH,
Backlashd

That was a good hunt Bryce.Cant wait to go back there again.as soon as the weather changes around here.Suppose to be around 60 on sunday...hint...hint :poke:next time its my turn to find the nice coin...mine is so crappy it looks like a hammered coin.Anyway it was a fine time looking forward to getting out again. We always have a awesome time weather we find the good stuff or not

WTG on another stellar find Bryce. You are an expert at finding the old missed coins.
If you ever get tired of the cold weather and decide you want to road trip to FL....look me up. I'm in the Bradenton area now.
BTW are you still hunting parks in semi automatic sensitivity? just curious.

The yeti guy seems like a riot and you always have a good story.
I don't want to put you n the spot but do you think I should trade off the xs on a newer machine? Se, etrac or the explorer 2?
Curious as to what your thoughts are.

Thanks Dip.
No way I would trade it yet friend. From what you tell me in your pm's...you're doing quite well with it.

There's a lot of guys on this forum who do very well with the xs. NealNOIN..and my hunting buddy niterider-58 (the Yeti) included in that group.

If you reach the point where you feel you need a change...then sure...do whatever you feel.

I do feel the SE has a big advantage with it's pinpoint feature because like I told you in pm's...it ID's in all metal which is an awesome weapon when deciding whether or not to dig. Just another tool if you will...to aid you in making the decision. The processor is a little faster...but I don't notice much difference between it and the EX2.

Whatever you decide...I'll do my best to help you along.

Take care

Hi friend.

Yes for the most part I do still hunt in semi auto at 26. There are times in trash free parks or sites that don't have much iron...that I will switch to manual 26...but I usually end up back at semi auto 26.

Nice seated coins Bryce.:clapping: How many seated is that for you this year? Good luck on your next outing. We are getting a ton of rain here now which should help improve the hunting conditions around here. Just hope it lets up by the 24th for our club hunt. HH.
