Shield Nickel

Went out to a school house site in Stark County Illinois from 1850 to 1890, currently a corn field. Spent six hours to find this 1868 shield nickel, in my last 5 minutes hunting. First one ever dug. I was digging a lot of beer tabs and almost walked on , glad I didn't. I have been using full tones and came across a 60, 61 signal that sounded great, but after six hours in the high wind I almost walked on and I did. I decided to turn around and dig it. To my surprise it was a shield nickel. Using full tones and no discrimination, I have been finding things I would of passed over.

A rare find - congrats ! :beers:
