Short little road trip on Father's Day... :bouncy:

My better half let me disappear for half a day's detecting WITHOUT bringing the 3 year old along, so I decided to head northeast of town to hit some parks I hadn't been to in several years. None of them had much to dig, but it beat the same old scene of the local parks. I found a couple silver dimes at each spot - all within 15 minutes of starting to hunt, so I spent a lot of unproductive time there as well, but the trip was worth it.

1903, 1903O Barbers 1918D, 1943, 1943D Mercs 1951D Roosy 1905V Nickel wasted Buffalo Old FORD Key and aluminum razor blade shaped tag. Take care and HH, Mike.

I would say yeah it was worth it also....Now that I think about it, I have not dug many old nickels, not that they are ever good shape but I find that a little strange. Barbers are always a welcome site.....Congrats Mike

Very nice.... I normally head out at 6 am and my 4 year old is still sleeping..

Glad you didn't cut yourself on the blade. Although it looks like it has a hole on the one end and mabe someone wore it as a necklace.

Was the blade sharp?

Great finds, Mike! How were the digging conditions there? Here in Austin, it hasn't rained in forever - bent my Gator digger in half yesterday trying to extract a Merc out of bermuda. Thanks for putting your Explorer tips on the web - they have been very helpful and informative. Take care.

Good to see you have some productive sights in your area still. Nice Barber Dime you got in the pic also. That Ford Key is a nice find also. Don't find many Keys like those. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

Now that was a good hunt Mike !

Certainly worth it !

No... it's aluminum and about as thick as a thin silver dime. I've seen razor blade charms for necklaces, but they were usually silver or had engraving on them. Another mystery item for the whatzit can. HH, Mike.

Nivkels don't show up for me much...but the tabs do:confused:
