Short Video - "Know Iron" - Stock Vs. 6X8 SEF & CO Vs. TTF

This is a video to aid those newer to the E-Track to help in ID'ing iron (Though when things are wet I think iron can fool us all on occasion). Compare this to a deeper coin video I made and you can see the sound consistency on a deeper coin is probably the number one difference. Also up there would be the more random jumpiness of the cross-hairs. Feel free to jump in there.

After about 80 hours with the E-Trac now, I feel pretty comfy ID'ing iron. But, when the ground is wet it is a bit tricky. I was pretty sure this target was iron, but I did question it. In the field, it's a bit fun for me to play with the settings or modes and try to guess what it is. Yeah, it could be more "productive" to just dig quick and unearth what is making the sound, but I'm learning the machine and having fun at the same time.

I do find the 6X8 SEF makes ID'ing iron easier.

Enjoy,
EMS

YouTube description
Settings - Manual Sensitivity 30, Recovery Settings both off, Trash Density - High, Ground Neutral.

For those learning the E-Trac. This can be what a deeper rusted nail sounds like in wet ground and with a bit extra sensitivity. But, it's still a rusted nail. And notice the SOUNDS.

Notice the difference between the coils responses to iron.

I still might dig one or two pieces of iron per hunt just to know what the ground is telling me.

Thanks for the information Albert !!!! :clapping:

Good Video, but you are letting everyone know about the true value of SEF 6X8 coil, not only the depth, it is iron ID capabilities and the fact it will work in Iron sites better than pro coil.again great video.

Yeah Prep1957, the way it handled iron really stood out to me. And the thing is it gets very very good depth, it is just behind the Pro Coil. Sorry, I let the cat out of the bag!

I was afraid this video would slide off the front page with no views, so thanks for saving it Niterider - I wouldn't have bumped it. I think for new guys (me included) watching how iron responds and comparing that with coins is a great help. And on top of that seeing how different coils responds is a help for me.

I have actually learned a lot studying responses, screens and sounds of targets I have dug. Sometimes when we dig we do it and don't think much. With videos, you can sort of learn at home...

Thanks guys,
EMS
