Short Video - The most shocked I've been at a target ever!

I won't say anything, would rather you just watch the short video and listen to my expression :surprised:

I think, outside of my surprise, this video really confirms running Recovery Fast Off with Trash Density High.

Enjoy,
Albert

Yeah, that is an amazing find for Germany. Perhaps a WWII era American soldier dropped it. I was stationed at Rhein Main AB outside of Frankfurt from 1982 to 1985. I didn't have a detector with me then, but it would have been exciting to hunt there. I can't wait to see what you find next. Civiliization goes back a lot further where you're at than here in the States. I enjoy watching your videos. Congrats on finding a Mercury dime in Germany!!!!!!

Thanks OhioCoinHunter. I had the same guess, that it was dropped in WWII, perhaps during a battle? I found the two pennies in the same area as well. And, this area (of a larger area I'm hunting) has lots of large spent machine gun cartridges around. Clearly there was fighting in this 100ft X100ft or so area. I do wonder about the story behind it...

Thanks again,
Albert

Congrats on the Mercury Dime, it sure is fun finding foreign coins!

Thanks for the videos, I really enjoy them!

Cheers

As usually, great video Albert. I got lucky last week and pulled up 4 mercs in an old park here in Va. I love those little coins.
I can't believe how hard er frozen that ground is there.I was cracking up watching you stand on that shovel :) I'm spoiled here
the ground never freeze's like that.BTW I'm tired of not hitting any coins past the 7" mark in my local parks here with my V3i.Seems
I'm spending so much time, trying change filters, speeds, freq, etc. Just trying anything to get better VDI readings on deeper targets, but I'm failing miserably. So I ordered an e-trac today, I can't wait to hit the parks!
Keep the vids coming please :)
Congrats on your first Merc!

HH

Hey Ken,

Thanks for your comments but I don't feel sorry for you after pulling 4 Mercs! Dig me a silver German DMark and then we can talk! :crylol:

Watch my channel, I just uploaded another E-Trac & V3i video. It focuses on the VDI Consistency as well as running the V3i through different frequencies. What I have found is that (in my ground - 1% mineralized, VDI -91 to -93)) 7" is the point at which the V3i starts to get picky. Where as the E-Trac will hit from all directions, the V3i might hit great from 2. And then at 8" (in my soil) is really the dividing line between the two. The V3i is clearly a GREAT detector when you know how to use it (and I do) but in certain ground (my guess - iron mineralized) it might have some problems. Trust me, I have played with many many settings but the possibilities are endless.

Congrats on your purchase. I really think you will like the E-Trac. What I find is that those deeper iffy signals stand out more. The E-Tracs sounds are weird. It's almost like a mini all metal mode that isn't a typical beep (as you can hear from the videos). Hard to describe but after a week I saw the advantage. I also see the HUGE advantage to the 2D display, especially on deeper targets. A visual bounce give you much more information than just a VDI bounce (which is a no dig if the ground is trashy as it doesn't stand out imo.)

Thanks again,
Albert

Nice merc!:clapping: Over here any time you find a merc its a pretty darn good day no matter what else happens. By far the most beautiful U.S. dime ever made. Its also an indicator that an area has great potential as well. a '35 is a pretty good date. A majority of the time they are dated in the 40's, which isnt too shabby either.

I always thought you were a transplanted American, maybe a soldier. Your English is flawless.

In 1916, a new Dime design was introduced to replace the old Barber design that had been in use since 1892. Designed by A.A. Weinman, the new design featured a portrait of Liberty facing left, wearing a winged cap. Because of the resemblance to the Roman god, Mercury, the coin became known popularly as the "Mercury Head" Dime. The reverse blends a Roman fasces (ax surrounded by a tied bundle of sticks) and an olive branch, indicating America's military readiness but also their desire for peace. The Mercury Head Dime series is one of the most popular in all of American numismatics. Apart from the 1916-D and 1942 overdates, most dates are obtained with little difficulty. However, several of the dates are extremely rare in high grade. The most desirable issues are those with Full Split Bands on the reverse, which means all of the bands that hold the fasces together on the reverse must be clearly and completely separated.

Congrats on the Merc! The thumbnail of your video kinda gave it away though. Wish I could me one of silver German coins!

awesome find! Mercury dimes are one of my absolute favorite coin! Once again I agree with you 100% on having deep OFF

Awesome find over there. I hope all those mounds at the .54 mark were not your previous digs..........

Congratulations on the Merc. Albert! Great video and well done!

Very interesting find in your part of the world, another good video.

Al,

I love it thanks for sharing !!!! And go get the other 3 Mercs that are there in the field !!! LOL

Congratulations on the beautiful Merc you found, again a very entertaining and educational video.

that was a nice find !!! try your best not to rub'em, just run water over them,,,HH

Congrats Albert on your Beautiful Mercury Dime

Did you not recently complain that you don't find Old Silver like we do back in the U.S.A.?

Lately, you are one of the few that is finding Silver!

LOL Bill. Most of those are Mole hills but a few, unfortunately, might be my neighbor as he just won't listen.

You know what is really ironic and sort of snychronous in my day? I talked about 90 minutes of German with various people. I know have two new "friends" it seems and a host of other people who were fun to talk to. I learned a lot about the history of the immediate area. Anyway my point is, Mercury symbolizes communication (amongst other things) and I just found it odd that on the day I talked more German than any other day by far, I found a silver coin with that "symbol" on it of sorts. I'll take it as a Que to me going in the right direction...

Thanks Guys and Gals and to the latter, Eva, yeah, silver is hard here but I found a good spot. In two or three more goes I will have gone through most of it and then it will be slimmer pickings. Then I'll go through it with the 12X13 NEL Tornado and 15X17 NEL Big - comparing signals, etc. Will make for entertaining videos!

Good hunting,
Albert

Nice find there a 1935 Mercury Head Dime Albert.

Did you hear at the end of your video when you were in TTF you were getting a high tone at first then you moved to your left you got low tones I would have investigated that high tone hit as it could be another coin being really masked by that iron there especially since you just found that one coin in there and there could be more hiding on you.

Tom - The ID that came up could be a coin here. You are right. They often hit around the pull tab range, plus or minus 5. Often there are coins that are shallower near the deeper ones I have dug. When I was just starting with the E-Trac I dug lots of the shallower stuff to learn the sounds. Now, I just walk past most of it unless I get bored. I mean I got to dig something every 30 minutes to an hour anyway so it's not a stead and fast rule!
The area I am hunting has A LOT of coins. I could probably find 10 to 20 Euro in Euro cents if I wanted to. I am luck to have found this place. Don't expect videos like this forever! Really, I have hunted for years and this is the second best location I have ever found. The best would have to be an old market I discovered and pulled 20 or so small silver coins from dating back to almost 500 years. The current spot only goes back to 1890 or so and the dates I'm finding verify that (later mid to late 1800's).

Thanks for doing your HW Tom ;-)
Albert

I relate to your finding 500 years old coins because I detected in England in September 2011

And "ONLY 1890 COINS" LOL..remember who you speak to in the U.S.A. :)

When I returned from my trip to England it took awhile before I could dig any High Tones Again because
almost every low tone in England was a coin/token or button

What location/country was your Market Location? Have you gone back with the ET?

I like how you connected the Mercury Dime and communication and your New Friends

Dare I say you are a Poet or Romantic..Yes I am a Girl

Regards and HH
