Short Video - Would you dig this deeper signal? #2

A continuation of the E-Trac educational series. ;-)

Interesting what happened to this signal when I turned fast off...
Also compared discriminate to TTF.

I still would dig those targets as sometimes coins in iron can be similar. But I'm a bit wet behind the ears with the E-Trac though. Bit Boy, you are right but it's those few times, you know? I'm still trying to get that elusive 12" coin in this ground. I am up to 9"! LOL

Blank Planet - LOL. Those trains are really loud, must have been a freight train. The funny thing is the mic doesn't pic them up that well! Keep the jokes coming, ehehehe.

Thanks for the feedback,
Albert

jokes are good  must have been a big train if that wasn't loud.

try one way signals, sound good one way and iron at 90 have dug some silver like that before they could be on edge or have that black stuff some silver gets on it, you know sweet one way and ugly the other way or could be sitting right next to iron so it only sounds good from one angle. maneuvering the coil is important part of detecting, i try and tell myself i am one with the machine  a bit zen but it gets me in a space where i feel like i am it does help.

I probably would not have dug that signal. It was hard for me too see your screen real well for the shadow, but I thought I saw the conductive number 49 flash on a few sweeps. And with the 35 ferrous readings I saw I would have walked. There are only two reasons I would ever dig that signal. Number 1, have I found any other nice goodies at the location? And number 2, I'm just bored and desperate. The 9" plus goodies I discovered last week gave a similar reading to yours but the ferrous numbers bottomed out at 27 and would go no higher. Your videos are nice. Something I think you should try is switching channels leaving your other settings alone. It seems most of my deepest silver finds I'm at channel 9,10, or 11. I haven't had any real deep finds on channel 2. When it quits snowing and the ground thaws I plan on hunting in channel 10 and when I strike a deepy I'm going to channel 2 to see what happens. It also seems channel 2 is a bit quieter when running my etrac with high manual sensitivity. And quieter is not always the best when it comes to the deepies.

Whatever your settings were at 1:30 they seem like they were made the iron seem like a good target more than the other settings.

Bill, right before that point I turned Deep on and Fast on both OFF. I don't think deep on does much from my testing, at up to 9" anyway. Now, with fast off it will merge signals more. So I guess it merged two signals it was receiving, which is basically what the manual says. Nice that you caught that and I was hoping someone would mention it.

Out of all the settings on the E-Trac, expert mostly, the one that makes the BIGGEST difference is Fast on/off. It seems like trash density high helps but is not profound in the sound or, in my soil, the unmasking. Though I have to compare signals more with it and I have stopped.

On many 7" and 8" coins, in or near iron, fast on and fast off both picked up the target. I can't remember one not working yet. And fast off is much clearer but I run fast on because it's using less filters - so I was hoping it might work deeper. But I don't know?

Thanks,
Albert

If I were turf-hunting in a park, I would not have dug that signal.

If I were relic hunting in a field, I would have dug that signal!

If I were beach hunting, I would not have dug that signal!

l would'nt have dug it,for a coin to be that deep and when you hit pinpoint the signal had quite a large halo in both directions and also the ferrous number to high for me.cheers Rod.
