I want the SEF 10 x 12 for my Exp 2. Read alot of good things from alot of experienced users on here. Now I just want to see if there are any other opinions before I take the plunge this week. I have the stock coil and I love it. Im just looking to 'kick it up a notch' . Any opinions?? Spring is coming!!

I like it so much, I can't take it off my detector. I bought the SE Pro coil at the same time and only put the Pro Coil on to make sure it worked. The SEF has me sold on it!

Its very competitive with the Pro at a much more reasonable price. Ive not been using it long, but on a fresh water beach in black muck sand i was getting at least 15" on pennies and dimes. That was pretty impressive to me. You will love the pinpointing... spot on at the front of the coil and its very well ballanced.

I have the pro coil on my SE....love it.....got the 10x12 in the front seat...going to put it on and try it....just have to get the pro coil off?.....I am going to put on the sef, never get around to it....I know it has to be as good!!!! Shoot I have a brand new E-TRAC, that finally came out of the box ...still have not used it...had three months..,just can"t get the SE out of my hand>>>>>>>>>>help!!!!!!

Did you make a decision yet Chris?.....Just buy one!....either or is and will be the best decision in your MD career.....until they make a better one....either one will kick it up more than one notch!....

Sorry, I really like mine and all the ground I can cover with it, the depth and the ease of pinpointing. So there!!! LOL!

If you want to go larger or deeper and still have some separation capabilities the Excellerator 10 x14 is tops. I have and thoroughly use every coil made for the Explorers and I owe almost half my finds to the 10 x 14 Excellerator, especially in farm fields. In parks, the SR 8 would take that award. But if ML made their PRO coil in those different sizes, I would literally never use a different coil manufacturer's coil again. Just some honest advice.:detecting:

I use it some still but prefer the sef coil. I was skeptical at first but saw a few of my friends having good luck with it. All of us did a lot of experimenting with the 2 coils and we all found the same result. In our area the sef coil had a slight edge in both separation and depth. If it would have been just me that noticed the difference; that would be one thing but it wasn't. There were 6 of us messing with the 2 coils and all 6 of us had the same results.

The butterfly or figure 8 pattern of the SEF may have a strong advantage in an area where there is strong EMI as the coil configuration is supposed to help lessen EMI interference. I am wondering if you weren't in such an area testing your SEF coils as in my area with little EMI, the SEF coils did not fare well compared to my results with the PRO coils.

From what I have gathered the PRO coil and the SEF are both more sensitive / responsive than the original EXP II coil and either would be a good choice. But the SEF Coil is larger overall correct? Even in the 10x12 size If you are digging in a trashy area wouldn't you want the smaller coil? Maybe an inch or so wont matter that much. I use an Excellorator 14 " loop on the minerlized beaches and love its depth and response with my Exp II however there is still a slight delay in the time from the sound to the placment of the cursor which I dont like, But I think I:ll be replacing my stock coil for the smaller Pro coil for general use hunting around homes parks and dirt lots. The 14 in EXcellorator gets almost double the depth of the stock coil where I use it but if there's lots of junk I can still find the stuff but its a real concentrated effort and my sensitivity has to be down from 29 to 18 or lower and Im sure its too big to use in these trashy sites. Good luck.

thanks utah...I like the stock coil on my machine, but have heard so many good things about the pro and sef. Im mostly in rashy parks, so size defineatly matters. 10 x 12 would be my max, any bigger i might lose smaller targets. Thanks for the input bud. hh

Thanks digit. I was thinking about the 14, but was worried about missing smaller targets. Also Im in trahy parks for the most part.

Hi digitrich. No the areas were normal areas that we hit. Interference was not a problem there. The sef coil just simply out performed the pro coil in almost every comparison we did. The sounds were much more crisp on the sef coil than the pro coil on all the deep coins dug between the 6 of us. Could just be our soil conditions here that favored the sef coil for some reason but for all 6 of us to have the same results was good enough for us.
