Silver And Copper Over The Weekend

Sooper Dave

Well-known member
I went out twice over the weekend. Friday I got permission to hunt an old house that is owned by a very nice lady. I spent about 45 minutes talking to her about the good ole days. Most of the time talking to the home owners is my best find as I get some good leads from them. I got started and the very first signal I got was a 12-47 and dug out a 42 Washington. I thought this would set the tone of the hunt but I didn't find any other silver. The yard was loaded with Hot Wheels type cars and dug about 6 thinking it would be more quarters. Also found the Shell Mr.President coin and an Army coat button.
I got out Sunday afternoon for a quick hunt with the kids. We went to a house that I had found a few old coins but no silver. This is a great old house on a corner lot that was built in 1898. I thought we would go super slow in TTF and dig any signal. After about an hour we had not dug anything but pull tabs and junk and was about to leave when I got a deep Indian type signal and I called the kids over to see what it was. Down under the roots we pulled a copper coin about the size of a quarter and was surprised to see a 1912 Canada Large Cent. This is a first for us and think it's a neat coin to add to the collection. That was the only keeper we managed to find. HH David

Good work. Doesn't it always seem to work that way. You go to a site and find a good coin right off the bat and think it's going to be loaded and then not find much of anything the rest of the time.

Yeah, you get all fired up and it just goes down hill from there. I'm just happy to get a few more keepers for the year.

Looks like we may get 3 or 4 more days of decent weather here in new Ohio before the bottom falls out. I'm going to try and make the best of it.

Nice finds Dave! Hope you get some more before the weather changes. I got about 24 hrs left to hunt here in central IL. as snow and low 20 degree temps are predicted for several days in a row. HH and good luck!
