Silver hat trick or pipe dream...?

Ytcoinshooter

Well-known member
Only had a short hunt of about an hour and 40 today but I went with a plan to try and coax some silver out of a public place that seems to have dried up. There is one relativly small area that has been the only area of the park I seem to find any silver. Many coins in the 6" - 8" range. I've been over it with 3 different detectors and much coil swapping. After a little testing in my yard on a resonbly deep test target I decided the detector and coil combo for today. It was a simple mission to prove something to myself that I could get more, but time was short because I had to meet a guy for a garage door replacement estimate. In the first minute I got what appeared to be the exact signal I've was looking for, cut a plug and http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af176/idigther/Detecting%20finds/1174B6D3-91FF-4337-A8E3-D3F2080DE635_zps7uhciyhw.jpg?t=1415059106?341 exactly 4 minutes later I get another one. http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af176/idigther/Detecting%20finds/DAF8507D-6A67-4DC5-80EC-6EB8497EB41E_zpspsflmsca.jpg?t=1415050408?348 http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af176/idigther/Detecting%20finds/289AA8C5-9146-4C37-8C87-DA1C47B0837F_zps8jha8ogh.jpg?t=1415059115?513 nothing then for 1/2 hour and I'm really crawling, pinpointing and rechecking any probable signal. Then I get a nickel signal but it seems too large, the VDI is locked at 19 on my V3i and I dig this first thinking I'm prying up a piece of plumbing:yikes: http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af176/idigther/Detecting%20finds/F6A8BE99-4D3C-47EF-8C30-3F34C368A59A_zps788tyish.jpg?t=1415048033?899 Guess not! Urban park, anything can turn up and I'm always wary of needles but this one park hasn't been a problem for them so far. I pop a clad quarter and a couple of cents, one zincoln is partially gone and the other is a '62. It's about quitting time and I was so trying for a third, really out to will it into reality and mt big 12"x10" SEF locates a hit the base of a nearby hill, in the curve where it's not quite flat - a penny / dime signal not really deep maybe almost 5" and I put Lesche to sod and see http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af176/idigther/Detecting%20finds/8586A523-8238-4740-B016-578B924B9D79_zpsl2tkmxmp.jpg?t=1415045324?855 sweet, made my trick http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af176/idigther/Detecting%20finds/947AD79D-1CD3-4879-9759-05EE2547D37D_zpsaqmw3alq.jpg?t=1415059162?897 I didnt hit it and can see the gouges are tarnished so they are old. Why didn't I will a $5 gold coin!!! The take for the short time http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af176/idigther/Detecting%20finds/DBDD3EBB-4948-4F77-A21F-F38FA53EE612_zpsugxofvnm.jpg?t=1415052006?15 Later looking at the pipe I see it looks really clean after rinsing....like it never weas used, a little light rust that wipes off - but there is this funny insert that I pop out then I see these initials. Did "D.R" make this in machine shop
Those three ladies made my day, it was one of the best short hunts this year and a beautiful day as well.
