SILVER IDENTIFICATION?

Goldstrike

Well-known member
Can anyone identify this mystery piece of silver? I metal detected it in an English park recently and it has a Birmingham hallmark (an anchor) along with a horseshoe and Flerdelis. It came up at 39 (is solid silver) and is in the shape of an arm with a clenched fist with the thumb protruding between the index and middle finger which puzzles me.
It may just be a random piece of silver jewellery or maybe a religious item, I don't know. Can anyone I.D. it or care to take a guess?...thanks for looking and H.H.!!!

Hey Goldstrike, Nice find. Looks to be a hand that is signing the letter "T". If it is the thumb between the index and middle finger. Maybe it was someone's initial.
HH,
Bunker

You guy's are funny! but you may be right, it might have been made as a joke piece!!!....it's 11/2 inches in length and maybe I'll never know why the finger/thumb is where it is....I hope it's not an old fashioned rude or insult sign!!! lol:blush:
