I was pretty bored over the weekend. We had a lot of rain and I spent some time going through the different forums. I started going over my finds since I got my Etrac, which was just before Thanksgiving of 09'. It came to me that my silver count vs coins dug has gone way up. I didn't do an actual count, but think that I was in the 50 to 1 range. ( 50 coins to 1 being silver) I went through my coins that I have dug since November. I have kept them separate from the others. I am thinking that I am at 5 to 1 now. So, I would like to ask the guys who owned other brand detectors before they got their minelabs, if their silver ratio has gone up? I am pretty sure the general question has been asked before, but have you put it into a ratio?
Like I said I was pretty bored...... I cataloged the first 5 pages of find within the posts on the Etrac forum vs the first 6 pages of one of the other top branded detectors. I gave the other brand an extra page in hopes to be fair. The results were almost shocking. I divided it up into- regular coins (pre 1957), silver coins, significant finds ( ex. rings, belt plates, things made out of precious metals), coins made before 1900, and coins dated before 1800. This is what I got......
Etrac
Coins (pre 1957)..........196
significant finds ...........20
silver coins...................110
before 1900..................15
before 1800...................2
Other detector
coins ( pre1957)........66
significant finds...........15
silver.........................16
before 1900................6
before 1800................0
It is not quite a 10 to 1 ratio on silver, Like I have personally found, but it is interesting. Obviously this means nothing and is just a random sampling, but it will give us something to talk about. HH, Dan
