Silver string stays alive!

Only got in 2 1/2 hours of swinging this morning before heavy foot traffic deluged me. Shortly after first light, though, did manage to recover 1 silver dime, a very nice 1920s Mercury. Also got 2 1940 wheat cents and another heavy caliber mini and a few clads and cents. On the Omega, the mini's are hitting 77-80 with a mid and high tone mix. This one this morning was 7" and the Merc 5." The Merc somewhat surprised me though, as it was reading 82-84. I clad and jewelry hunted over the weekend with the 10" coil, but put the 11" back on this morning and was running sen 99, disc 1, d3 and d4 tones and had a gb of 59. The Omega ran very quiet all morning. HH jim tn

That is a super, super nice Merc.............rare when one can find one in that pristine condition. Your pennies look like mine. I envy detorists in low mineralization that get nice pennies.

Very very good report Jim. The way you handle your Omega gives me more confidence in mine. I was concerned about it's ability as a bullet/ relic detector and was pleased to see the bullet, but also the merc dime amongst four finds. I'm a Tennessee man myself. I live in a town near Shiloh where Grant was headquartered before, during, and after the Shiloh battle. The Union army occupied my town for several moths leaving behind evidences of their past presence here. I love coin shooting, but a nice Minie ball, or Sharps Carbine 52 cal, or an Eagle I button thrills me as well. Enjoy your posts and reports. Congrats on the good hunt.
