Silver Trifecta

Happy New Year to all! I spent this beautiful sunny day here in eastern Pennsylvania hunting an old Picnic Grove.
The recent snow was all but gone and the ground was just right for easy digging. I found the 1911 Barber dime and the 1951
Roosevelt in the first 45 minutes of the hunt. This hardly ever happens to me! The anticipation of finding a Merc to get a trifecta was
high so I put my E-Trac in TTF and really slowed down and covered the area thoroughly. About noon I decided to walk back to my car and
have lunch. A soon as I finished lunch I returned to the area and the very first signal was a 12-45 @ 5 inches. Could it be ? I looked down at the
ground and a huge smile came across my face. This is one of those moments that anyone who swings a metal detector should experience. I cut a
neat plug and saw a flash of silver at the bottom of the hole. For a few seconds I didn't even move, I just stared at the coin. When I lifted it from the
hole I saw what I was so hoping to find to get a silver trifecta. A 1920 Merc. What a great way to start the new year.
Totals for the day included the 3 silver dimes, 3 V nickels 1903, 1908, 1912 and 10 Wheaties. Happy hunting !!

Nice looking dimes! Wish I could get out hunting but we've still got a few inches of snow
on the ground. If this turns out to be a normal winter I won't be able to take the detector
out for a spin until sometime in April.
