OK, so I have seen this issue reported before in multiple forums and FB groups. I went out to try and find my silver quarter (see my post on depth). I turn on the Simplex and it goes wild. Even before ground balancing and then after - VDI going crazy even when I hold the detector with coil well above ground and not near fence etc. Lowered sensitivity and really didn't help at all. No, I didn't have pinpointer on and didn't have my phone with me. Restarted several times to no avail. The Simplex was for all practical purposes, useless (I was using stock coil. All modes tested)
I then gave up and took detector to the basement (no metal in floor except floor drains). It worked flawlessly (other than continuing issue with quarter depth - save this for another time).
So, my question is: I have overhead power lines for the neighborhood very close but they have never affected me like this. Does EMI fluctuate? Could it be some days are worse than others?
Thanks in advance!
