I decided to take advantage of the 55 degree weather on Saturday and hit the cornfield where a nice old carnival site was back in the mid to late 1800's.
It has produced some wonderful and ancient coins if I am patient enough to fight the stalk/stubble and also willing to accept the fact that I might not even dig one coin in a 3 hour hunt. It is that kind of a site and I have to work very hard to get any signals at all.
This hunt was a fun one and the oldies decided to come out and play thanks to the 6 x 8 SEF coil..
The field was bone dry in some spots yet very muddy in other sections...and the first coin I unearthed was the injun in a mud clump.

I did a little spit shinin' to this baby and as you can see it turned out to be a mint condition beauty of an 1874

About an hout later I got my second decent signal which turned out to be another injun' from about 10".
I then wandered around for at least another 45 minutes before finding yet a third Injun'

I was hoping for the faint warble of silver...and finally got it right before I was ready to call it a day.
From about 9" came the sweet old seated dime.

Herky felt compelled to show his appreciation...especially after he helped dig the hole.
He always sniffs whatever I show him...then he puts his right paw right on my wrist to show his approval.

All in all a very fun day with some much needed peace and solace along with it.
I ended up with the 3 old Injuns' and the 1891 seated dime.

I am thankful to have another month or two to dig some goodies...and I remember hunting on Christmas eve night a few years ago trying to hit 200 silver for the year.
Towards the end of the year I begin to panic because I know the hunting season is about to end...and I will hunt in any and ALL weather aslong as I can still chisel into the ground
